Last Week

Here are some pictures of the kiddos from last week. Enjoy!!

Here are the kiddos playing outside with their slide

I like this pic lol

And here are the kiddos playing outside with their jackets on! FINALLY! I was beginning to think buying all that winter clothing was going to be a waste of money!

Jake was LOVING playing outside. Steven, not so much...

Happy Jake

Unhappy Steven (I think he is a South Texan for sure)

I even tried to give him some m&m's to cheer him up. But he was still unhappy with the fact that he had so much clothing on and a puppy around his face.

Silly Jakers

And since it has been so cold/rainy outside I decided it was time to build a fort. The boys LOVED it! So much so they played in there all morning and even requested to eat lunch in there lol!

When daddy got home from work he joined in the fun too!

And I also have to show you my AMAZING Target trip!!

I paid ZERO dollars for all this! Isn't that awesome?! My cashier let me keep the $0.73 overage for the cat food coupons! So between that, other high value coupons and Target gift card I was able to pay nothing out of pocket! My kinda shoppin'.

Hope y'all had a great week too!

Spent $8.09

Then it was off to Target!

I was hoping to keep the overage on the cat food again but the cashier adjusted down the coupons. Boo. I did find a couple of GREAT school time games for Jakers!
I got the special k boxes for $0.75ea!
The cat food was free
The 2 boxes of hot chocolate were free!
The kashi bars were on clearance for $1.94ea and I and a $1/2 coupon so it was a pretty good deal!

Life With Steven

Steven. Steven. Steven. Steven. That kid is somethin' else. Today he went into the hall closet, grabbed the iron, plugged it into the hall way outlet and placed it face down on the floor.

I thought coming from a family of 9 children, having many nieces and nephews and being a nanny for multiple years had prepared me for children. I was wrong. I was so very wrong.

The End.

The Numbers Are In!!

So now that we are in year 2011 I though I would take a look at my 2010 savings!
I have to admit, I was disappointed. I know that's silly, savings are savings, but when you read about these other ladies that save $52,000 a year (yes, in one year) using coupons, you can't help but compare.
But I just reminded myself this was my FIRST year using coupons. I really had NO IDEA how much money we could save or that you could even get some groceries for FREE!

So, you ready for the grand total? You sure? Are you double sure? Are you triple ultra sure? (Can you tell I hang out with Jakers a lot)?

Ok, I saved $6,442.72!!! That total does NOT include online or retail savings. I didn't do a very good job keeping track of those savings. But I do know they are in the thousands as well.
So this year I will be keeping better track of ALL my savings so I can impress you even more next year!!

So whatcha think? Not to shabby for a girl that knew nothing about coupons at the beginning! Learning how to use coupons totally turned on a light bulb in my brain. Once I realized how much I could save at the grocery store, I wanted to save every little penny I could! So I started unplugging anything and everything in our house and cut our energy bill in half! We got a 20% discount on our car insurance thanks to all of Dave's training certificates. We started to look for ways we could save at restaurants, movies, on clothes, your name it!! I never thought I would be this frugal. It certainly had a lot to do with the fact Dave didn't work for 5 months last year. But when you think about what we had to learn because of that, it's really a good thing. I appreciate the value of a dollar more. Especially since I know what I can get with that dollar!
2010 was an interesting year for sure. I'm excited to start 2011 with my new frugality (is that even a word?), my wonderful husband and crazy (but cute) kiddos!

Happy New Year to all!!

Clearance Shopping!!

It's been a while since I've posted a shopping trip, mostly because there really wasn't a whole lotta good deals right around Christmas. But now, the CLEARANCE has started! Woo Hoo!

I was able to get these candles at Dollar General for $0.50ea! These are normally $5 a pop! No thank you!

They are on clearance for $2.50 then you can use the $2/1 febreeze candle coupon!
So I paid $4.34 for $30 worth of candles! Nice

Then I went to Target and was able to get all this for $0.61!!

The cat food is $0.77ea and you can use the $1.50/1 coupon from this Sundays paper! So not only was the cat food free, but Target let me keep the $0.73 overage! Needless to say I ordered 20 more yesterday! Free cat food PLUS $0.73 overage?! Awesome!
The Christmas cards were on clearance for $1.74 ea but thanks to the coupon overage I got them for next to nothing
The batteries are FREE with the $1/1 energizer battery coupon! Apparently energizer makes this value brand of batteries so you can get them for free with the coupon! I LOVE free batteries!

Then yesterday I made it over to Hobby Lobby because I was given a hint that the Christmas items would be 80% off!! (the manager basically said that he couldn't tell me when the items would go 80% off, but that they were open on "Monday" and left it at that. Good thing for me I can take a hint).

All this would normally cost over $76.00! But I paid $16.11 for everything! We won't need wrapping paper again for a long while!

Well that's all I got for now!
