Happy Halloween!!

Halloween was pretty great this year!

We started the day off with pumpkin pancakes

Then I printed Halloween themed school work (I also let the kiddos dress up for school)

Then we watched The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (at this point they were being impatient and just wanted daddy to get home).

Then we went trick or treating at Maceys (NOTE: I wouldn't advise trick or treating at a grocery store unless you have a 1 year old. There were about 4 differnt locations you could get candy at. It was not at all what I was expecting.)

(Aunt Tanya came along with us!)

We also got some ice cream

THEN it was FINALLY time to go outside and trick or treat!

The kids were knocking on a door when all of a sudden a GIANT spider came crawling down the wall!! Jake was screaming like a little girl and Steven had ran half way down the block by the time I turned around to see him!!! It was pretty funny.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

We Are Alive!

Long time no blog, right?? Things have been CRAZZZYY since we moved! But I'm happy to say we are finally settled in our new apartment and trying to get back to normal! The kiddos and I are already getting sick if you can believe it. Pretty sure it's going to be a looong winter.

David's sister Kari came over to take our picture for Matthew (he is in Peru serving a mission).

(please excuse my shiny face. again, not feeling well)

The boys are having fun getting to know cousins up here and going up to the mountains. Jake cries and says he wants to go back to Texas every now and then, but I'm pretty sure Utah is going to win him over once it starts snowing.

Dave is enjoying his work here. He likes his co-workers and is working hard.

Well thats all the news I have for now! I will make a little video of our apartment soon!

Quick Update

Since we are moving in a couple of weeks(August is just flyin' by), I thought I would give y'all a quick update on 'Trowbridge Life'.

Hmm let's see....

We have been doing lots of indoor activities since its SO STINKIN HOT outside. Like I'm talkin 100+ hot.

We made a moving chain (Jakers is VERY excited to move to Utah and see snow for the first time. I don't have the heart to tell him he will have to wait a couple more months once we get up there).

We made rockets out of toilet paper rolls

We have been watching Peter Pan (their new fav show. I'm just so happy it's not a dinosaur documentary).

Coloring on ourselves.

Baking Animal Cookies/Crackers! These were great!

LOVE the pink frosting!

We also made homemade cheese crackers. They were yummy!

And I tried a new bread recipe! I made Amish White Bread! I think its the new favorite. Next time I will do half whole wheat to make it a bit healthier.

Let's see what else? Oh! My sister Tanya will be here on the 24th!!! She is flying down to help us pack and help me with the boys during the 3 day(yikes!)trip to Utah. I'm SOOO excited to see her! And the see the rest of my sisters! And mountains!! Yay!

Check And Check

This year Dave and I have been working SO HARD to grow our food storage. We have made some great progress! But another part of having food storage is being able to cook with it. Which I couldn't do. So I have made it a personal goal of mine to learn how to make a lot of things from scratch this year. I figured it's better to learn this now, while I still have the option of going to the grocery store after my failed attempts, than later on when I possibly wouldn't have that option. I REALLY enjoy cooking and baking so this has been fun for me. So far I've made....

Cake and Frosting from scratch

Onion Rings (oh my goodness these were good. I ate them all lol)

Pie Crust

Tortillas (I can't believe how EASY these are to make!)

And breads. This was my biggest challenge. I wish I had my mom or my buddy Jan to help me learn this skill, but I'm happy to say that after many failures I finally had success!

I also made homemade graham crackers! They were pretty great!

I think my next challenge will be homemade pasta! Wish me luck!
